We also believe it's vital that we help encourage more young people to consider careers in science and engineering.

For example, in the UK we run an innovative theatre-based schools roadshow, which is designed to challenge stereotypes about engineering and excite young people about it as a possible career destination.

To date the roadshow has been seen by nearly 60,000 young people. The company is also a major backer of the Big Bang science fair and National Science Learning Centre at York in the UK.

In the US, we are involved in a range of activities, including the FIRST (for Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology) program, an international engineering based competition. By taking part in FIRST high school students develop team-building and engineering skills by designing and building robots that can accomplish a range of tasks.

In Sweden we offer project placement and internships for students, whilst in South Africa we sponsor the Ephes Mamkeli secondary school in the township of Watville, Johannesburg. Our Australian business runs cadetship programmes in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and Newcastle for third-year university students studying engineering and IT.
