BAE Systems Hagglunds expand their premises

15 May 2006

Hägglunds' acquisition contract for a new building in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden, was signed Friday 5th of May.

The building that Hägglunds acquired is directly next to Hägglunds' existing building in Örnsköldsvik. The reason for the purchase is the increased need for office space which has emerged due to Hägglunds' enormous expansion.

The fact that the turnover has trebled over the past 10 years is one of the factors that has led to a massive recruitment drive for administrative personnel. In order to cope with this large expansion, Hägglunds has been renting office space for 70-odd employees since December 2003.

This has been an excellent interim solution and one of the reasons why Hägglunds has been able to manage the expansion. The building Hägglunds is acquiring covers 3,300 square meters of office space and 21,500 square meters of workshop space, of which 9,000 square meters are rented out to other local firms.

–The purchase of the building will allow us to gather all of our resources at one spot and it will mean that we can increase our efficiency in the long run, says Sven Kågevall, president of Hägglunds.

– In the short term we will also be able to bring together a number of storage locations that are currently spread out around the local area.
