FMV orders the next generations' vehicle system SEP by Hägglunds

31 Jul 2006

The 17th of July FMV (the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration) placed an order on development of the next generations military vehicle system SEP from BAE Systems Hägglunds AB. The order value amounts to approx. 500 million Swedish Kronor.

The development order contains two SEP 6X6 wheeled vehicles and two SEP tracked vehicles, both as troop transport and logistic configurations. The Swedish Defense Forces is planning on having the SEP system working operatively by 2014. – This is an extremely important order for Hägglunds, says Sven Kågevall, President of Hägglunds.

But Hägglunds is not the only winner. The Swedish Army will have a military vehicle system with great flexibility and development potential for the future. SEP will in the Swedish configuration be transportable by air in the Swedish Hercules C130 and an excellent vehicle system for international rapid reaction force missions. – Hägglunds has since the first delivery of CV90 to Sweden 1994, sold CV90 on the export market to an amount of approximately 20 billion Swedish Kronor. I am convinced that when we summarize the export figures for SEP, these figures will far exceed the export successes of CV90. SEP will be a very good export business, says Sven Kågevall.

SEP is a military vehicle system based on both wheeled and tracked configurations which can carry a number of different role modules depending on purpose. SEP is a relatively light vehicle with electric alternative mechanic transmission and high loading capacity and can be transported by air. Volume efficiency with high payload capacity and flexibility are qualities that make SEP unique.
