Most of the capability of System Components revolves around our Forge Complex. The forge uses the closed die method to produce forgings ranging in weight from 15 to 200 lbs. Six mechanical presses ranging in size from 3,500 to 6,000 tons are supported by our in-house die manufacturing center.
This Forge Complex also has extensive high volume specialized carbide drilling centers and other machining capabilities. Supporting these operations are our metallurgical and gauge laboratory, and extensive heat treating facilities, including the vertical salt bath. This facility is vertically integrated and capable of providing ready-to-use steel components for a variety of commercial and military customers.
State-of-the-art equipment and software, from forge simulation to fully-integrated CAD/CAM networks, provide our expert team with the tools required to develop cost-effective solutions for our customers. Deform (trademarked) software allows our internal die designers and machinists to simulate the forge process to optimize their die design and reduce or eliminate forge defects.
Our Vehicle Upgrade and Overhaul business segment strength revolves around its enduring partnership relationships, its extensive facilities, the highly-trained workforce, and its adaptable processes. The Anniston Army Depot - BAE Systems Steel Products PPP is in its 12th continuously successful year. The nearly 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and support space is further augmented by the Steel Products building and footprint on ANAD. The more than 450 skilled and highly trained employees involved in vehicle upgrade and overhaul have demonstrated their abilities across several variants and models of currently-fielded combat vehicles. This business segment has increased and varied scopes and statements of work multiple times for an individual combat vehicle within the course of the same year. The Vehicle Upgrade and Overhaul capability has truly been responsive to America's armed forces.
