Head of Procurement - LTPA
The Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS) Fixed Wing Chapter published in December 2005 concludes with a paragraph which includes the following statement:
"We need to develop the dialogue in which we have been engaged by commencing negotiations with BAE Systems in earnest on the terms of the business rationalisation and transformation agreement required to facilitate the effective sustainment of the industrial skills, capability and technologies - wherever they may be in the supply chain - that will be so important to our ability to operate, support and upgrade our fast jet combat aircraft through life".
The Defence Industrial Strategy committed MOD to exploring with BAE Systems the terms of a Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) to help sustain key industrial skills and capabilities needed to keep our fast jet aircraft at the cutting edge. In March 2007, the MOD signed an LTPA Foundation Contract with BAE Systems; an initial contract intended to establish the key elements of an LTPA and inform the detailed negotiations towards a full agreement.
Following the signature of the LTPA Foundation Contract, MOD and BAE Systems are now exploring a phased approach to full LTPA and are negotiating the next phase of the programme (called a demonstration phase) for 2008 and 2009. Depending on progress and subject to negotiations, this should be followed by a full LTPA in late 2009.
This site provides current and potential suppliers to BAE Systems Military Air Solutions (MAS) - whether directly or indirectly through their tier 1 suppliers - with the following:
Access to information regarding the joint activities of UK MoD and BAE Systems MAS to establish a Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) covering the fixed wing air sector.
An easily accessible mechanism which facilitates communication between BAE Systems MAS and all tiers of its supply chain.
By providing direct access to BAE Systems MAS Procurement contacts via the email link on this page, we hope to enable and stimulate genuine two-way discussion with industry regarding the challenges of DIS and how they might be addressed. It is our intention to incorporate appropriate output from such discussions into our future business transformation activity.
From this page, you will also find links to a variety of information including summary plans, awareness briefing material, published articles, specific DIS related activities etc. The material will be updated regularly to maintain topicality. Our objective in making information available in this manner is to ensure that as much information as possible is made available directly to industry as opposed to communication solely with our tier 1 suppliers.
We trust that you will find this site useful both in terms of information and as a means of facilitating communication with BAE Systems MAS
