Systems Integration

BAE Systems is a leader in Systems Integration for major platforms.

Our Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) employ well-defined engineering processes for hardware and software development and integration. This allows us to manage the rapid development and integration of our products on time, while containing costs and mitigating risks.
Our modeling and simulation-based approach to product development and integration allows our IPTs to use rapid, virtual engineering and early customer input to evaluate multiple designs early in the development and throughout the product life-cycle. This reduces risk through:

  • Early identification of problems that could have an impact on cost and schedule later in the program when rework or redesign is considerably more expensive.
  • Maximum use of inexpensive virtual prototypes instead of costly hardware prototypes.
  • Confidence that subsystems will properly integrate at the appropriate time in the development.
  • Reduced need for test and evaluation, which are major costs to any program.

Several BAE Systems facilities in the U.S. (Santa Clara, Calif., Orlando, Fla., San Diego, Calif.; Wayne, N.J.; Reston, Va.; and Minneapolis, Minn.) have received Level 5 certification against the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI). This is the highest level rating for systems and software development that an organization can achieve.

CMMI® and Capability Maturity Model® are registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
