Referral Process
How do I submit a referral?
It is simple. Obtain a soft copy of your referral's resume, visit the BAE Systems Inc. and BAE Systems IT job posting websites, search for a position for your candidate, complete the referral form, and submit.
What if I do not have a soft copy of my referral's resume?
Obtaining a soft copy of your referral's resume will expedite the review of their qualifications. If you cannot obtain a soft copy, visit the BAE Systems Inc. and BAE Systems IT job posting websites, complete the referral form and submit.
Is there anything I can to do increase the chances of my candidate being hired?
There are two submittal options: 1) Submit your referral against a specific requisition 2) Submit a general referral. Whenever possible, submit your referral against an open requisition to expedite the review of their qualifications. If the resume does not adequately present their experience, ask them to revise their resume OR include relevant information on the ERP online submittal form. When completing the online referral form, always include as much information as possible to assist us in reviewing your candidate's qualifications.
Is it inappropriate for me to contact programs or managers on my referral's behalf?
Sometimes a candidate does not appear qualified on paper and will not be invited to interview. In the past, some employees have been successful in 'marketing' their candidates to a manager and/or program when a candidate's resume does not demonstrate a likely 'match'. Human Resources does not discourage this proactive behavior as long as you submit the referral on the job opening sites beforehand and always conduct yourself in a professional manner.
When I submit a referral, will my referral and I receive an acknowledgement?
Yes, both you and the individual you referred will receive an acknowledgement via email. Only those candidates we would like more information on or plan to interview will receive further contact from Human Resources.

Employee Eligibility
Who can submit an Employee Referral?
The program is open to all full and part time BAE Systems employees. Employees in the Human Resources organization and those working at a Director level or above may submit candidates, but are not eligible for awards or prizes.
Can I refer a candidate for consideration in BAE Systems Businesses other than my own?
Absolutely! The website is designed to allow you to submit your referral across the country, by geographic preferences or for a specific opening. Based upon your selections, the referral will be automatically routed for review. Please keep in mind that not all openings are eligible for relocation assistance. Where no relocation assistance is available, local candidates are generally preferred.
Who is eligible for the annual prize drawing?
For each employee hired as the result of a referral that meets the ERP program rules, your name will be entered into the prize drawing for $5,000 within your operating group. If you receive two awards your name is entered twice…
Am I responsible for the quality and integrity of the candidate I refer?
Yes! Simply put, the characteristics we look for in our new hires are those same attributes of professionalism, enthusiasm, dedication and caring that you desire among your close colleagues and current teammates.
Position/Referral Eligibility
Are referrals of immediate family members eligible for the referral bonus?
Yes, family members may be great potential BAE Systems' employees. We encourage you to refer any and all qualified candidate interested in a career with BAE Systems. Be aware that some Businesses have restrictions that prohibit family members from working for the same manager and/or in a reporting relationship with another family member. Check with your local HR group if you have questions.
Are referrals of temporary workers, contractors or consultants currently working for BAE Systems eligible for the referral bonus?
No. Referral bonuses will not be paid for individuals who are currently working for BAE Systems or for those candidates who have worked for us within the past year even if the candidate had been referred for a position prior to the start of a temporary assignment.
Are former BAE Systems employees eligible for the referral bonus?
Yes, if it has been at least one year since the former employee worked at BAE Systems.
Are recent college graduates without work experience eligible for the referral bonus? Yes, you may refer recent college graduates. However, several Businesses do not pay awards for Entry Level referrals. Check the Internal Careers site or call your local College Recruiter to see if the Business or location of interest has recent graduate positions that are eligible for awards.
Which positions are eligible for the referral bonus?
Not all openings are eligible for award bonus payments. Each Business will identify the eligible openings and amount of the awards. Referral eligibility for each position is included on the Internal Careers site. However; all referral hires through the ERP program are eligible for the grand prize drawings.
How long is an ERP referral considered active and eligible for payment?
Each referral submitted through the program is considered an active candidate for 6 months. After 6 months, if no interest has been shown the candidate is considered closed and may be re-activated by submitting a new referral..
What happens if two people submit the same person?
When the referral is submitted via the Job Opening website the date and time are automatically recorded. The submittal with the earliest date/time is the eligible ERP referral as long as the original submittal is still active (6 month period from submittal date).
Bonus Information
How are Bonuses Paid?
Referral bonuses are paid through our payroll system and are taxable income. Payments are processed after your referral starts work and are normally paid within 30 days of the start date.
If I don't submit a referral through the program, but I referred the candidate that was hired, will I be paid the referral bonus?
No. We will only pay referral bonuses if referral information has been received prior to the candidate's interview being conducted. By submitting referrals via the Job Opening websites you will insure your referral receives appropriate recognition.
Is the referral bonus taxable?
The bonus is subject to all applicable tax deductions as with any other bonus check. For more information regarding taxes go to www.irs.ustreas.gov.
Is there a limit on the number of referral bonuses that I may receive?
There is no limit to the number of referrals you can make; however, keep in mind that BAE Systems reserves the right to change or discontinue this program at any time based on business needs.
