Suppliers account for around 70% of the costs of our products and services. This means it is vital that we work with the best suppliers and ensure that they maintain high standards of quality.
Our reputation can be affected by the suppliers we do business with. It is important that our suppliers act ethically, treat their employees fairly, maintain high health and safety standards and manage their impact on the environment.
In return we need to treat our suppliers fairly, pay them promptly, and communicate our requirements clearly. We believe we can get the most from our relationship with suppliers by working with them as a team.
Within BAE Systems we take a tiered approach to supplier management, ranging from full strategic and operational performance partnerships with our most strategic major suppliers to performance management with our general supply base. We recognise improvement in performance is dependent upon open communication and clear improvement plans which must be two way to be effective.
