NEW DELHI, India – The 5th Defence and Naval Exhibition (Defexpo) sees BAE Systems’ biggest ever presence at the Pragati Maidan event in New Delhi. The BAE Systems stand in Hall 10 is nearly 200 metres square and will be displaying capabilities from the across the company such as armoured vehicles, artillery systems, tactical communications, and naval systems.

The two biggest features of BAE Systems' presence at the show are the M777 Ultra lightweight howitzer, the lightest in the world, which is making its Indian debut, and on the Mahindra Defence stand, a RG-31 mine protected vehicle that could be the basis of an Indian vehicle to be jointly developed by Mahindra Defence and BAE Systems.

Also on BAE Systems' stand [hall 10, stand 12] is the Falcon demonstrator.  Falcon is the all IP (Internet Protocol) tactical communications system being developed for the British Army.  Falcon is the only all IP wide area network tactical communications system being integrated into the battle space and provides a step change over legacy technologies such as IP over ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode).

"India has always been an important market for BAE Systems, that's why we've been here for over 60 years," says Mike Mendoza, BAE Systems' managing director India. "As the world number one in land systems it is only fitting that our presence at Defexpo 2008 is our biggest to date, and we hope that our current and future partnerships with India and Indian industry also go from strength to strength.

Other systems from across the company such as unmanned air and underwater vehicles are also on display in model form as well as a large number of land vehicles, artillery systems and naval guns.
