BAE Systems Regional Aircraft and Mesaba Airlines announce the 22 May opening of a new Regional Aircraft Services facility to be co-located at the Mesaba Aviation's 126,000-square-foot maintenance facility located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Supporting the overall North American regional aircraft customer support activities, which continue to be based in Washington D.C., this is an extension of an existing relationship between the manufacturer and the airline. The new facility will permit on-site overhaul and repair capabilities, performed by BAE Systems Regional Aircraft Services FAR/JAR145 Repair station within the Mesaba Aviation maintenance facility. The relocation of the BAE Systems Regional Aircraft Services team from its previous location in Herndon, Virginia into the Mesaba hangar facility will provide BAE Systems the platform for a full range of component and accessory maintenance and modification programmes for its regional aircraft fleet in North America. This will include training systems, logistics services, "Rapid Response Go Team" (enabling comprehensive round the clock AOG support) and supply chain management support, including Information Systems and e-commerce initiatives.
"This project will allow Mesaba Airlines and BAE Systems to realise total life cycle cost reduction opportunities and operating efficiencies," said David Speirs, BAE Systems Senior Vice President American Support and Head of Materiel. "This allows us to optimise our combined resource and logistics to continuously create affordable and reliable improvements to the fleet aircraft."
