BAE Systems has extended its partnering approach to international soldier modernisation programmes through
a new supply chain initiative which the company firmly believes will add value to the UK Ministry of Defence's
Future Integrated Soldier Modernisation (FIST) project.
A key feature of the company's ongoing evolution of its approach to FIST is to assess - and fully involve -
the team's prospective domestic and overseas suppliers. Success in this field will transform them into strategic
assets, dedicated to supplying successful soldier modernisation programmes, and in particular BAE Systems best-of-breed
strategy for FIST.
A dedicated FIST team website has therefore been created following suggestions made during a BAE Systems Supplier
and Partner conference in December 2001. It contains information about the FIST requirement, which is complemented
by profiles and contact details of suppliers, and features bulletin boards for discussions on specialist interest
areas. It is password access controlled but open to all suppliers registered with the BAE Systems FIST team and to
interested stakeholders. The site currently includes details from over 100 suppliers.
