BAE SYSTEMS delivers first Boeing 767 fixed leading edges

16 Aug 2002

BAE Systems today delivered to Boeing the first fixed leading edges under a contract awarded in July 2000 and expected to run for approximately ten years.

This contract for the fixed leading edge component of the 767's wings involves design for manufacture and assembly, including design liaison throughout the production phase. Total project management and supply chain management activity are carried out at the BAE Systems Prestwick facility.

"The Boeing 767 Fixed Leading Edge contract further develops Aerostructures design and build capability and moves us one step further up the value chain. This work, along with our 777 fixed leading edge work, puts us firmly on the path to becoming the Centre of Excellence for civil aircraft fixed leading edge assembly." said Alastair McLaren, IPT Leader with the BAE Systems Aerostructures business.

"We congratulate BAE Systems on this first shipset delivery," said John Quinlivan, Boeing 767 Vice President and General Manager. "BAE Systems first fixed leading edges will be installed on the 905th Boeing 767 aircraft, a 767-300ER. To date, Boeing has delivered 880 767s to more than 75 customers around the world."
