BAE SYSTEMS trusted filter receives security certification

17 Apr 2002

Following extensive evaluation by the Australian Defence Signals Directorate (DSD), BAE Systems has received Australian Information Security Evaluation Level 5 (ITSEC E5) certification for its trusted filter.

The trusted filter is a hardware device designed to analyse command data passing from a secure to non-secure environment allowing only a specific set of commands to pass.

The unit performs this function under internal software control utilising a set of system specific rules. Any invalid data is blocked and discarded.

"Achieving ITSEC E5 for the trusted filter demonstrates BAE Systems' capability to make products to a rigorous design, manufacture, documentation, quality control and ITSEC evaluation regime," said Mr Andrew Makin, Domain Manager - C3I, BAE Systems.

The certification means that the product is approved for use in the classified domain of a secure communications system.
