BAE Systems has been awarded a contract via the UK Defence Procurement Agency for the lease of three
newly designed transportable satellite communications terminals.
Building upon previous systems such as Dagger, TSC503, Trailblazer and CREST, the new BAE Systems solution
-Talon - incorporates a range of commercial off-the-shelf components integrated to provide military features
- such as satellite tracking and use of both defence and civil frequency bands - in a 'flyaway' package.
The contract, to be fulfilled by the Communications & Defence Infrastructure team of BAE Systems C4ISR at
Christchurch, Dorset, is for an extendable fixed term. The system will be hosted by the headquarters of the
Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC) near Rheindalen, Germany, and deployed wherever needed to
enhance the Command's operational effectiveness.
