BAE SYSTEMS Dedicates 150,000-Square-Foot Los Angeles Facility For Company's Integrated Solutions Unit

28 May 2003

BAE Systems today officially opens its new 150,000-square-foot office and prototype development facility in Los Angeles.

"BAE Systems has a long history in the Los Angeles area, and we are committed to maintaining a significant presence here," said Tom Herring, vice president of BAE Systems Integrated Solutions, the business unit that began operating from the new facility in April. "By relocating to modern, efficient facilities that better meet our operational and technical requirements, we will make our business more agile and cost-competitive while improving the quality of our employees' work lives."

The company employs approximately 550 people in the five-story building. Integrated Solutions' former facility, a 10-acre parcel of land containing three buildings adjacent to the Santa Monica Airport, was sold in December 2001 to Santa Monica City College.

The new facility consists of about 100,000 square feet of Class A office space, more than 40,000 square feet of technical labs and space for the development and test of product prototypes, and areas equipped to accommodate programs with special security needs. The facility features a robust IT infrastructure tailored to the company's needs and a state-of-the-art digital telecommunications system. BAE Systems Integrated Solutions, a unit of the company's Platform Solutions Sector, is a focal point for the company's international military and commercial markets and a provider of aircraft integrated avionics, vehicle management and utility control systems, navigation guidance and control systems, and unmanned aerial vehicle systems.
