BAE Systems Regional Aircraft has signed long-term leases with MagicBird Airlines for two ATP turboprop freighters, both of which are configured as E-Class bulk freighters.
Delivery of the first aircraft (msn 2052) took place in mid-April and has been placed into service based in Stockholm on a Swedish post office contract. The second aircraft (2042) will follow within weeks and is scheduled for allocation to a similar contract in Europe.
Magicbird Airlines Dutch management team has extensive experience of the regional air cargo market in Europe and has plans eventually to operate up to eight ATP freighters in both E class and large cargo door configuration.
Although based in the Netherlands (HQ is at Beech Avenue 200, Schiphol-Rijk), MagicBird envisages operating its ATPF fleet widely across Europe on a variety of contracts on behalf of postal authorities and the cargo integrators.
The lease of these two aircraft to MagicBird brings the total of ATP freighters now contracted for or delivered to 23 aircraft with five operators.
