Cavity-Backed Spiral Antennas

Cavity-backed spiral antennas

BAE Systems' spiral antennas are in wide use and offer excellent performance.

All spiral antennas are wide-band performers — 2 to 18 GHz is typical — and possess the excellent pattern control needed in direction-finding systems.

Models are available covering the 0.2 to 40 GHz band. BAE Systems' spiral antennas are designed for airborne use on many tactical jet aircraft and helicopters.

The spiral antennas have low axial ratio across the main beam, low squint and good conical cut concentricity. The polarization sense can be left-hand or right-hand.

BAE Systems offers a unique ambidextrous dual-polarized spiral antenna, and its companion bidextrous antennae — two like-polarized spiral antennas in one.

Much of the antenna business has been acquired by Sensor and Antenna Systems, Lansdale, Inc., a subsidiary of Cobham Defense Electronic Systems Corp. Contact information for all these products remains as stated below until the transition is complete.
