PI-895 Remote Spectral Monitor

The PI-895 wideband spectral display processor accepts intermediate frequency (IF) outputs from VHF, UHF, or microwave receivers and processes the signal to create IF pan displays on a customer-furnished PC or workstation. The PI-895 connects to the customer’s network and provides data via a standard interface control document (ICD) or the Java-based graphical user interface provided with the unit. The PI-895 contains an internal IF switch that allows it connect to up to six different receivers. The switch can be changed manually (via the client interface) or programmed to scan through the input channels.

The PI-895 acts as a network server for spectra, to which clients can attach to monitor one or all of the input channels. The PI-895 also has a local display port for using the unit without the network or to diagnose network problems.

It can be configured to monitored signals with different IFs and different sweep widths on each channel. The scanning can be configured to activate all six input channels or any subset of them. For example, the PI-895 could be configured to scan between channel 1 at 10 MHz sweep and 70 MHz IF; channel 4 at 20 MHz sweep and 140 MHz IF; channel 5 at 2.5 MHz sweep and 21.4 MHz IF; and channel 6 at 5 MHz sweep and 70 MHz IF. All settings and changes are configurable over the client-server software interface and can be achieved remotely.

An administrative client allows system managers to configure network parameters and user management.
