Chile Frigates

In September 2005 the announcement was made of a government to government agreement between the UK and Chile for the supply of ships.

BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions is responsible for the management of the contract to prepare and deliver three ex-Royal Navy Type 23 frigates to the Chilean Navy and is working with Fleet Support Limited towards the delivery of the ships. The first vessel, the Almirante Cochrane, was formally handed over on 22nd November 2006 and the second, the Almirante Lynch is scheduled for formal handover on 28th March 2007.
