Image Analysis and Visualisation

Improving the understanding and interpretation of images – by people, as well as machines – delivers major advantages in both the military and commercial security sectors.

Our research and development of image solutions is revolutionising the ability of military and security operators to visualise and analyse situations.

We have conceived and developed a range of sophisticated image analysis techniques for target detection and recognition, even in high radar noise environments. For example, an airborne radar is capable of providing images
in any weather, day or night. However, these images can contain features which are difficult to interpret and distinguish, even for trained observers. With un-manned equipment increasingly used in the field, the ability to
automatically analyse images and recognise patterns will help to increase the scope and autonomy of these machines.

Intelligent surveillance is a vital function in modern warfare – whether for target recognition, battle damage assessment, or to detect changes in the battle-ground environment. It can make the difference between reliably distinguishing military and civilian vehicles. Whatever the quality of the image, and whatever its source – whether it is the human eye, hyperspectral camera, or a synthetic aperture radar – our technology helps to maximise its intelligence value. Further applications have also been proven outside of the military arena in the mapping of sea ice and in identifying areas of land subsidence following mining activities.

We have developed solutions which operate from the ground, through air and space, and in maritime situations. Our aim is to empower both military and commercial operators by providing the right information at the right time, together with the means to analyse and interpret that data.

Whatever the quality of the image, and whatever its source, our technology helps to maximise its intelligence value.
