Surface pressure map from SUPREMO
SUPREMO is a pressure sensitive paint system, originally developed to map the pressure distribution on wind tunnel models at transonic speeds. The system has been extended for use from low speed facilities up to supersonic speeds. The measurement capabilities have also been extended to cover temperature measurements as well as time-domain analysis of unsteady pressures.
The system works by coating the surface with a polymer containing a phosphorescent dye. The surface is then interrogated remotely using a scanning laser-based system. Data are available within a few seconds of the scan.
