The ATC has established a role for Rapid Engineering in the production of embedded real-time system designs using off the shelf methodologies, techniques and tools. The aims of the Rapid engineering process are to:

Improve productivity of engineers by the use of appropriate software tools.

Improve communication between engineering disciplines.

Automate straightforward tasks.

Reduce the amount of red tape, excessive paperwork and administrative procedures.

Enable application domain specialists (e.g. radar, sonar) to construct embedded software applications without resorting to traditional programming.
